Hi All

The email bellow is from APRA a while ago regards to what is required. This information can be produced with Rivendell's reporting system.

Thanks

Stan

Hi

I hope you're well this afternoon and had a nice weekend.
Yes this is correct, I'm happy to confirm that we do not require composer information as a compulsory field. The compulsory information we require is the Song Title, the Performer and the Duration. All other fields are optional.

Thanks for your query, I hope all goes well in your next reporting week

Subject: [RDD] Music Playout Report - Rivendell v2.4.0
Hi folks I have a question hopefully someone can help me with?
How can I can add / remove fields that are output to the new 'music
playout' report that first appears in v2.4.0?
I'm looking to modify it so I can meet APRA reporting requirements for
New Zealand low power FM broadcasters as outlined below:
---
The Licensee will:
At APRA's reasonable request, furnish to APRA a certified list of each
and every musical work communicated without any exceptions or omissions
whatsoever
Such lists shall:
Be typewritten or computer printed and shall include in respect of each
musical work the name/s of the composer, publisher, form of rendition,
record manufacturer's catalogue number and the duration,
The list for each day shall state the total duration of all works
communicated on that day and the total duration of the communicated time of
that day.
---
Gavin, you'll note from the above APRA requirements we also need our
reporting to provide the total duration of all works communicated on a given
day (each song's duration) and the total duration of all items communicated
on a day (sum total duration of all music played across 24 hours).

We currently lack any suitable APRA/PPNZ report template in Rivendell, such
a template would (ideally) meet the APRA requirements outlined above.

At present in version 2.8.1 I use the following library fields:

Title, Artist, Album, Record Label, Agency, Publisher, Composer, User
Defined.

The 'User Defined' field I plug in the CD catalogue number or state 'single
digital' for digital downloads. This data should perhaps now be in the 'song
ID' field - which is a newer field that came along after I started my music
library.
The 'Agency' field I use to state the 'form of rendition' so iTunes, CD, LP,
etc.

Ideally I'd like an APRA/PPNZ report template in Rivendell to:

- print a line by line output for each item broadcast
- on each line the data to contain: broadcast time, cart number, title,
artist, album, record label, publisher, composer, user defined, audio
length, agency (perhaps the latter should be song ID?)
- provide a total audio duration broadcast for each calendar day (or part of
day generated by the report) e.g. total audio duration on 3/5/14 is hh:mm:ss
- provide a total audio duration of the complete time period covered the
report e.g. total audio duration for period 3/5/14 - 3/9/15 is hh:mm:ss

Fred, would you please consider such a report template for a future release
of Rivendell?

With thanks, Paul.

I wonder if Geoff is reading this and what he does for Otago Access Radio
for the 4 weekly reports per year for non-profit with Rivendell?

At present APRA/PPNZ don't request playlist information per their
requirements for LPFM, but the clearly require the station to be in a
possition to provide those reports on request - if they ask for samples in
the future.

The thing I disagree with, is that you're limited to $10,000 turn over
before you have to do full reports under a normal broadcast license.
However, the software such as Selector or Bluegum that they recommend to
output their reports makes an LPFM budget of $10,000 not really practical. I
can easily blow that on new hardware to upgrade to RD 2.8 branch, new
transmitter, console, mast and antenna and a grand just to get the copyright
license for LPFM and online. That would maybe leave enough to pay a tech to
give everything a clean bill of health.

The closest thing to an LPFM budget is Rivendell for it's features
obviously. I've experimented with technical playout report but that doesn't
appear to be enough. I need composer/author, record label, publisher and the
CD spine number (catalogue) number in those outputs. So far I've made the
output path \home\rduser\%y%m%d.txt but I've played audio over and over in
RDAirPlay and nothing is showing up in that subdirectory. Granted I'm only
on 1.7.2.

There must be someone in New Zealand or Australia running LPFM using RD and
paying their public performance licenses legitimatelly and fulfilling the
contract details on keeping reports should they request them? $10,000
anually is a tough ask before requiring expensive scheduling software for
reporting.
