 Slightly longer answer :  
 The concept of a windows "workgroup" is basically to tell *that* machine
 to hide other machines not claiming to be in that workgroup from the user
 because this user is much too stupid to know what he's looking at.

 If you think of windows as a glorified video game, it all makes sense.
