I'm not a great either of how Windows shares the main drive by default too. You can see that via the maangement console. I get nervous around Windows networking, I still disable the server service and use FTP or SSH to access Rivendell.

In the explorer browse bar,
\\IP.of.any.machine\
should find that machine, as long as it has a windows name daemon running.
