I'm new to Linux, new to Rivendell. I have found this service
workable. Yet a forum well run can be an advantage.

We've all no doubt
been in forums that bring out the worst in people. Mud slinging,
ranting, some time name calling and abuse. I think any forum to be
useful it needs strong moderators who control with an iron fist. The
best example of a forum I've found is http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/. This
has grown from a small forum to a major force in the video world. This
all comes from Chris Hurd founder and chief moderator. No nom-de-plumes
allowed. All real names and real people. It's so easy to hide behind a
false name and take pot shots at everybody. Chris Hurd has said it's his
backyard we're playing in so he calls the shots. All the moderators do a
fantastic job in keeping order in their section.

I would welcome a
forum run along the lines if Dvinfo. Check it out.

Cheers, Owen Dawe.

One for developers and one for users. Also, there are list archives. The
history is not gone that easily.
