 The command interpreted by Rivendell, translated and executed
 are interpreted within a very specific context, and it ain't BASH.

 The command line is *usually* BASH on most Linux, but it could also
 be SH or ASH, or BSH, or CSH,  or a few others.
 Assuming that any of them will interpret the command the same way
 as any other without knowing the syntaxt for *that* shell and *that*
 command within that shell, *and* within *that* context, would be a misteak.
