One automation system (not Rivendell, I won't mention which one since it does not matter) that I work with has the ability to change what channels get used for play out on-air on the fly. You can set it up to go: A - B - C - D or A - B - C or A - B or A You select the playout mode you want from a pull-down, and it'll swap it into that mode. The only issue is that it'll always use at least channel A. However it is quite useful for those times when - for example - an issue with one of the channel modules in the console turns up and you have to pull that module for repair - just change the playout mode so it doesn't use that channel, pull the module out, repair it (or pop in a spare if you have one of them), and no one on-air will know any better and you never miss a beat. I'm not sure if this type of feature could be added into Rivendell (perhaps via a macro)? It might be one to consider. _______________________________________________ Rivendell-dev mailing list [email protected] http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev
