Since I did run Rob's test on my 32-bit systems without crashing, I'm
thinking the problem is likely NOT related to the version of Rivendell
as much as its compatibility to the version of the OS you are using. In
my case I'm using the the Tryphon binaries with Debian (of a couple of
different versions).
PS: The only time my rdairplay ever crashes is when loading a new log
just after midnight. I have a silence sense that catches it and
restarts the program with about 20 seconds of dead air. It does this
randomly once a week on average and I still haven't figured out a
pattern to it. I guess no one else has this problem so I'm thinking
something gets into my database that rdairplay doesn't like. Oh and it
does this on both my 32-bit and 64-bit machines, but all running
snapshots of the same database served locally.

What was the most recent version of RD that was tested on 32-bit hardware?
I ask because I have a couple of systems built on old hardware that suffer
from occasional rdairplay crashes. I've been upgrading them to the most
recent RD versions, thinking that if it is an RD problem (and not, for
instance, something in the Linux kernel), it's more likely to be fixed in
a newer RD version than an older one.
But now I'm thinking I might be better off running an older version if I
have to use 32-bit hardware. One of my clients still has a couple of
machines in service I built back in 2007; they never crash.
