I found a workaround for now. If I crank the "forced segue" up from 50ms to something like 30000ms - it'll do what I want - since Rivendell thinks it's trying to force the segue over 30 seconds.
Considering that the actuality will never fire longer than the close sounder - it'll work for now. Thanks gang for the all the ideas. I'll do some playing and try to come up with a better way.
