Addendum:
I just ssh'ed in to the machine I was working on earlier this week; it
also runs Debian 8 but Rivendell 2.10.3.
rdimport doesn't work there, either; same symptoms.
It's beginning to look like Debian 8 is a loser.

rdimport on my newest machine (Debian 8 "Jessie", Rivendell 2.5.5) doesn't
work. But on all previous occasions, there has been some clue in the Apache
log, and this time there is none. The access.log shows:
127.0.0.1 - - [11/Jun/2015:19:08:54 -0400] POST /rd-bin/rdxport.cgi HTTP/1.1"

Nor does rdimport report any error. The relevant CART and CUTS entries appear
in the database, but no file in /var/snd.
I've double-checked my permissions and verified that the Rivendell user can
write to /var/snd and create files there.
/var/snd is mounted via NFS from another machine, so just for yucks, I
dismounted it, leaving an empty /var/snd; I then changed the mode on the
empty /var/snd to 777 (i.e. world-writable). I still don't see a file when I
run rdimport.
I'm temporarily stumped. If I can't get this to work, I can try upgrading all
the other machines on this network to RD 2.10.3 and see if that fares any
better (that would be non-trivial); or, I could dump Debian 8, which has been
vastly more difficult to deal with than Debian 7 and Debian 6 were, and try
CentOS.
