My gut tells me the problem has something to do with Debian 8 using Apache
2.4 instead of Debian 7's Apache 2.2. Might there be something in the
rd-bin.conf that needs to be changed, or one of the other configuration
files?

Nor does rdimport report any error. The relevant CART and CUTS entries
appear in the database, but no file in /var/snd.
I've double-checked my permissions and verified that the Rivendell user can
write to /var/snd and create files there.
/var/snd is mounted via NFS from another machine, so just for yucks, I
dismounted it, leaving an empty /var/snd; I then changed the mode on the
empty /var/snd to 777 (i.e. world-writable). I still don't see a file when
I run rdimport.
I'm temporarily stumped. If I can't get this to work, I can try upgrading
all the other machines on this network to RD 2.10.3 and see if that fares
any better (that would be non-trivial); or, I could dump Debian 8, which
has been vastly more difficult to deal with than Debian 7 and Debian 6
were, and try CentOS.
