Hi all,
Just as a quick update, the weirdness with Ubuntu 14.04 and Rivendell
using serial ports means you can't really use the ST macros. Usually
within 12 hours the serial connection will stop responding.
If any of you end up having the same problem, removing the serial port
from Riv and setting up bash scripts to control the serial port directly
with screen is much more reliable. It means you have to know how your
switcher works rather than letting Riv sort it out but I haven't had a
hiccup for nearly 72 hours since I switched over.
I added a section to the switchers page on the wiki to document this as
a workaround.
