Yes, if are installing on Raspian (or another Debian based distro) you
may need to add your user to the "audio" group. (see "man usermod", the
"-G" option)
Also, for perhaps better error messages, try running "rdalsaconfig" from
a terminal shell instead of the desktop icon. You might have to find
the program as it may not be in your search path yet.
I've gotten USB audio devices to work on RPI's petty well (even in
Jack!), not quite as stable as on "real" computer, but that is probably
because the overall speed of USB on an RPI is somewhat compromised, and
I don't know if you can get "real time" patches on the Linux kernel to
work on ARM processors or not (anybody know?)

I've gotten to the point that Rivendell will run and most operates properly.
However, two things...
1. When accessing Menu>Rivendell>Configuration>RDAlsaConfig a desktop
error message comes up stating Invalid desktop entry file
'/usr/local/share/applications/Rivendell-rdalsaconfig-root.desktop. I'm thinking it is a
permissions problem but not sure.
2. Cannot set up an external USB audio box. When I do start the above
rdalsaconfig as root, I can see the usb box and enable it. It then appears in
the asound.conf file but not in the RDAdmin host setup file.
Any clues? Thanks
