I have searched for but could not find a simple explanation of how the cut weight numbers work in Rivendell.
My particular use case here is setting up a new traffic cart with two cuts where the customer wants one cut to run say 30% of the time and the other to run say 70% of the time. I set up a test cart and imported the test tone twice, ending up with two cuts in the cart. I set the weight of one cut to 3 and the weight of the other to 7. My guess was that this was the correct way to use the numbers to get the desired result. I made a mini log that ran that cart only several times and then chained to itself. I loaded that log and started things running. Here is a little spreadsheet/table showing the results so far: 7 201 314 377 3 87 136 163 2.3333333333 2.3103448276 2.3088235294 2.3128834356 10 290 453.3333333333 543.3333333333 10 287.1428571429 448.5714285714 538.5714285714 The first column is the given weights, the ration and a conversion back so that each should be the sum of the two top numbers. Any difference is how far off the random is from the exact expected. Not bad so far. This is with both cuts starting at the same time with zero plays. all the best, drew -- Bahamain Or Nuttin - http://www.bahamianornuttin.com <http://www.bahamianornuttin.com/>
