Pretty good for the most part. Light weight, text based. Since it doesn't require a GUI at all, convenient on machines where a GUI is lacking, or completely unnecessary, such as servers in general. A really nice file browser, and file moving utility even if one never actually uses the editor at all. I tend to switch between it and vi depending on what I'm doing. Ctrl-O allows one to get a shell without exiting, and in the directory the browser is currently displaying. Very convenient. I can use the mc browser, and the vi editor without leaving mc. The right tool for the job. Sometimes mc is better, sometimes something else is better. Mostly, I like vi because it's what I know best, and until recently, every unix derivative in the world included a version of vi. Not true of any other editor. Unfortunately, no longer true today, but easily added. -- Cowboy http://cowboy.cwf1.com What the hell, go ahead and put all your eggs in one basket. _______________________________________________ Rivendell-dev mailing list [email protected] http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev
