This is precisely the sort of thing that the Rivendell Loadable Module [RLM]
framework exists for. An RLM plug-in can do all of that and more.
If you’re on a CentOS setup, install the ‘rivendell-devel’ package and look in
‘/usr/src/rlm/‘ for example plug-ins. Otherwise, you can find them in the
‘rlm/‘ folder in the Rivendell sources.
