If you're using CentOS or RHEL... Boot the install CD for a version LOWER than you're running. ie: if you're running 6.8 using a 6.4 CD it works just dandy ! Tell it to upgrade. One of the options will be to re-do the boot loader. Take the upgrade/reinstall boot loader option.
