I have a Rivendell system running at a station that joins CBS news at the
top of the hour.
Until this week, we faded out of the current song, hit a legal ID at
:59:50 and then joined CBS live at the top of the hour.
However, fading out of a song is annoying, so now what we're doing is
RDcatching the top-of-hour news and playing it back at the end of the
song. It's not precisely at the top of the hour any more, but it sounds
a lot better.
The question that comes to mind, though, is: if we start playing the news
while it is still recording, are we actually playing old news recorded an
hour ago?
