One of the problems with putting DB management into rdadmin(1) is that you need
a functional DB in order for rdadmin(1) to be able to log in. Chicken and egg
problem! Hence, I’m currently thinking along the lines of a small, stand-alone
applet (similar to rdalsaconfig(8)), that would provide buttons for basic DB
management operations:
Create New Database
Backup Database
Restore Database
Like rdalsaconfig(8), you’d need root permissions to run it (to avoid
catastrophes when your weekend board-op decides to go ‘experiment’).
Cheers!
