Yes, it very probably is a UTF-8 issue. What I'm struggling to figure out is why, for the same cart title or artist in a Rivendell network, it shows correctly on some machines, and bad on some others. Maybe there is a compile-time feature that I should force to unify these machines?

And of course I am very well aware of our technical debt, and we have a long running plan for migrating onto 3.x (and this should solve the UTF-8 issue as well), but for now it's about trying to solve this issue. Right now the server (file server and MySQL database) displays it correctly, the playout machine too, but some other machines (with a recent compile and install of Rivendell 2.19.3) show character conversion issues, back and forth.

On a side note, I'm also aware that support for these old versions is very limited to the good will of some passionate and dedicated people on this mailing-list, and I thank you for that!

Could this be a UTF-8 issue? Unless I misremember, Rivendell versions befor 3.x don't fully support UTF-8. A client of mine who used to run a Brazilian format on Rivendell had a lot of problems with Portuguese-language song titles.
