Since this is an unusually large piece of work, I'll change my original opinion and agree with you. I think that Sim's request for more visible documentation is still valid though. I believe that you've supplied that in the Jira attachment - I can't confirm that right now though because I don't have OO installed on this machine. For more "normal" enhancements and so on, work should be 100% complete on a branch before it is moved onto trunk.
