i compiled a package for ubuntu 8.04 with cran R (2.9). compilation ran
without errors, and rkward starts as expected, but when any button of the
start dialog ("start with empty workspace...") is pressed, be it ok or cancel,
rkward crashes with the following error messages (i assume the first three
lines aren't errors):

<error log>
rkward(5337) KateRendererConfig::setSchemaInternal: Loading template colors
 0xb3a8ad50
rkward(5337) KatePartPluginManager::addDocument: KateDocument(0xb3a974b0)
rkward(5337) KatePartPluginManager::addView: KateView(0xb3a96e08)
rkward.bin: /build/buildd/kde4libs-4.0.3/kdeui/xmlgui/kxmlguiclient.cpp:580:
 void KXMLGUIClient::removeChildClient(KXMLGUIClient*): Assertion `d-
 >m_children.contains( child )' failed.
KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = rkward path = <unknown> pid = 5337
sock_file=/home/m/.kde4/socket-kubuntu804-cran/kdeinit4__0
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
</error log>

does this make sense to you? maybe a problem with kde 4.0.3? this didn't
happen on 9.04, i'll try 8.10 next.
