for windows (95/98/ME): a. Do a find on hosts.sam, should be in C:\Windows and edit this file and save as C:\Windows\hosts without the .sam extension. This will act the same as an /etc/hosts file on unix.
b. If you know the format of a hosts file create a text file in this format and save it in C:\Windows and you have it. But hopefully you are running RL. :-) - Al At 06:36 PM 11/27/01 -0700, James Talbot wrote: >I have had similar problems, so I added the redmondlinux.org ip address to >my hosts file and haven't had trouble since. > >for linux: >cat >> /etc/hosts >64.81.254.171 redmondlinux.org www.redmondlinux.org >(ctrl-d) > >for windows (nt/2k/xp): >echo 64.81.254.171 redmondlinux.org www.redmondlinux.org >> >%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts > >for windows (95/98/ME): >you're out of luck. > >hope that helps. > >- James > > >----Original Message Follows---- >From: "Christian" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: "Redmond Linux" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: [rl-users] redmondlinux.org down? >Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2001 07:11:23 -0800 > >Is it just me or does it seem like redmondlinux.org is down alot?
