FYI, I've gotten the card to work.  I needed to do two things:
1st:  Upgrade to bttv version 0.7.87  -->  this takes care of the lack 
of sound
2nd:  Override the autodetected module option (card=63) for bttv with 
"card=10" which is for the Hauppauge TV Card --> this takes care of the 
lack of video
