interesting.  we don't use a font server, but most likely it's just
sending an xset fp rehash command.  i'd like to repro this, but i would
need a *lot* more info from you, including what you did, step by step, in
excruciating detail.  i might even need a font or two you used.

if kde doesn't start, the worst you should *ever* have to do is rm -rf
~/.kde2 from a command line.  even that's drastic, more likely you could
just browse ~/.kde2/share/config/* and see which files changed recently,
then delete that file/remove those changes.

of course the whole point of RL is that the user [you 8-] shouldn't have
to do this stuff [command line editing] ever, but i just want to let you
know in case you find something else like this and don't wanna reinstall.
