check to see where /usr/X11R6/bin/X is symlinked.  if it's symlinked to 
XFree86, you are using XFree86 4.x and the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. 
 if you want to move back to 3.3.6, change this to point to the 
appropriate X server.
