Hi!

Dunno if it's common knowledge or not, but you can write zeros to the first 
ten megs of the hard drive (giving you a very "clean slate") by booting to a 
shell prompt via cd and entering:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=1024 count=10240

assuming, of course, your drive is hda. Substitute as appropriate. THIS WILL 
EFFECTIVELY COMPLETELY DELETE ALL INFORMATION ON YOUR DISK!!! and let you 
start over.
