Neither is all that much different. The main difference is that you share 
a local network segment with your neighborhood with cable in addition to 
the multiplexing at the aggregation point, but I've never found that to be 
as much of an issue as you might expect.

Personally, I've also found cable to be more reliable. I've owned both, 
and while neither is completely reliable, generally the cable people seem 
to be more responsive when it comes to fixing outages.

Price is about the same at around $50/month. The main difference these
days is that the cable installation is usually cheaper, and you don't need
an annual contract.

Technically, DSL had a firm lead a few years ago (and still does if you
want to spend for a symmetric line), but the telcos squandered it. If all
you want is 128k/384k service (burstable to 1.5Mbps downstream), cable is
probably the way to go.
