Good Evening,

What's the "best" How To book on configuring and troubleshooting RH 8.0?

I'm looking for the kind of info that explains where the various config files are, and what some of the settings are for. Not the professional "authorized" fluff stuff, but the meaty details material. I guess the equivalent in the Windows world would be books like Brian Livingston's "Secrets" books, or the QUE "Unauthorized Guide" series.

I've been using Linux sporatically since about Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 appeared (late '97). I know, Caldera has since become public enemy No. 1, but that and Slackware 2.x are where I started. I've mostly stayed in the GUI on Linux, unless I had to do something at the console. I know enough to move around, make directories, delete files (you know... rm -r *.* from the root.... that sort of thing <g>), edit text files with vi (sort of), and that kind of thing. I want more!

These days, thanks to Ed Jager, it's RH 8. It works great for me. So, not a lot of experience with UNIX in general, or Linux. Mostly just fumbling around with it until I figure out the directory structure or where config files are. But that's where things often get very interesting... can you say, "Reinstall, dufas! 'Cause you just broke it?" <g>

I do this stuff all day long in Windows, and get paid for it, but I'm an idiot in this environment. :-P

TIA!
-Gary
