I'm using GBIS DSL (Great Basin) as well. The service has been reliable since I signed up with them 3 years ago. I've experienced a little bit of downtime here and there, but what service is up 100 percent of the time. One really nice thing about GBIS is they will rent you a static IP for an extra $5 a month. I think that is exemplary since Charter and most other providers do not offer that option. They will also allow you to run your own DNS server and will set up their DNS up as a secondary for a one time $40 fee per zone. My Bind server does zone transfers with all of the GBIS nameservers (4) and I use ns1.greatbasin.net as the secondary DNS for my domain name registrations at Network Solutions. That's also something most ISP's will not do for you. Using NAT (IP masq) is a non-issue for them. I only need a DSL modem (no router involved) and my Linux box acts as my firewall and IP masq server for my private network. They don't have that "what, no Windows?" thing going on. I didn't have any Windows machines running (still unpacking from a move) when they set up my connection initially. - Craig _______________________________________________ RLUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.rlug.org/mailman/listinfo/rlug
