I mentioned this in an earlier post...  I won't go into the reasons why,
but you need to specify the -B flag to dhcpcd when grabbing an IP from
charter.  I've never used Xandros, so I can help you there, but the
command itself should be "dhcpcd -B eth0" (or whatever your network card
is).
