PPPoE isn't too bad... if you look at the protocol itself, it's kinda beautiful in its simplicity. Likewise, DHCP can be a PITA at times, search the RLUG backlogs for my interesting problems regarding charter's DHCP service and the Linksys WRT54G. I'd debate the merits and disadvantages of the reno broadband ISPs (I have both Charter and SBC), but instead I'll just say... nothing I've seen anybody say on this list about any local ISP compares to my experiences with AT&T Broadband in the bay area (after @Home died).
