There has been little interest in the wireless mesh idea for the Reno area.
I'd just like to point out a few key points that most users will enjoy:
1) Backup internet connection (depending on your peering arrangements)
2) Multi-megabit data transfers to your neighbor next door or even to
you office across town
3) Ability to use SIP VOIP telephones anywhere without paying for
cellular service or minutes (cheap long distance calls?)
4) Play "LAN" video games with anyone in the area without the need for
internet access
5) VPN between office locations without any DSL or Cable fees
If you are interested in setting up a link with my node you'll be gaining
3mbit internet access (downstream), access to 1.26TB of files (lots of divx,
mp3s, etc), and more!
