We use supermicro for our email system NFS file server. It's got redundant hotswap power supplies, fans and SCSI disk drives. We use Linux software RAID 1.
The RAM failed after a couple of months when the box was pretty new, but it has worked flawlessly for well a year since then. Note: when the RAM failed, even though it was ECC RAM, it started returning bad results rather than raising an ECC error. After the first failure, we bought a second identical machine, because that server simply can't go down for long. It's worked well since then, but if I were going to do it again, I would probably buy a Dell. -- Bruce Robertson, President/CEO +1-775-348-7299 Great Basin Internet Services, Inc. fax: +1-775-348-9412 http://www.greatbasin.net _______________________________________________ RLUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rlug.org/mailman/listinfo/rlug
