First Thanks to all of you who have been trying to help me with this blasted printing problem.
VMWare support finally came through. As I was suspecting - the answer was simple and I had 90% of it earlier. The last 10% can be a total bitch - as it was in this case. The answer was to configure the parallel port to append to a "file" /dev/lp0. I had come across this recommendation before except all that documentation referred to parport0 NOT lp0. GRRRR. Suse docmentation was also referring to parport0. One of the frustrating things is to have problems discovered and solved but documentation is not updated in a timely fashion. So I can now print from the guest os (Win2K) However - remaining issues still include Somewhat sluggish performance of the guest os (Win2K0 Inconsistent ability to double click icons etc Difficulties in resizing or moving windows Total performance degradation in full screen mode - basically unusable. Performance issues are very puzzling to me based on my system configuration below CPU is a Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz Extreme 2 Gb Ram twin 160 Gb HDDs running software RAID. Graphics - Nvidia FX5700 with 256Mb RAM Host OS is SuSE 9.1 Pro - has been updated since installation. VMWare Workstation 4.5 I allocated 928 Mb ram to thhe virtual machine. If anyone has some ideas on tweaking this for faster performance - please share. Thanks again Dennis _______________________________________________ RLUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rlug.org/mailman/listinfo/rlug
