I have finally had time to look at Samba running on my FreeBSD box with an eye toward adding netatalk. I found the following:

freebsd2# find / -name "*netatalk*" -print
/usr/include/netatalk
/usr/local/lib/samba/vfs/netatalk.so
/usr/src/sys/netatalk
/usr/ports/net/netatalk
/usr/ports/net/netatalk/files/netatalk.sh
/usr/ports/net/samba/work/samba-2.2.9/source/lib/netatalk.c
/usr/ports/net/samba-devel/work/samba-3.0.4/source/bin/netatalk.so
/usr/ports/net/samba-devel/work/samba-3.0.4/source/modules/ vfs_netatalk.c
/usr/ports/net/samba-devel/work/samba-3.0.4/source/modules/ vfs_netatalk.po

It seems that I never have time to really get into FreeBSD (or Linux) in any kind of depth, as much as I'd like to. So please forgive me if my question is most likely that of a real dunce!

QUESTION: How do I get netatalk running and connected to Samba-3.0.4 so that I can store files using Macintosh file names? I'm running FreeBSD 5.1.

Thanks in advance...
