If you want to try the latest (5.4) FreeBSD and you would like to have

I can't say that I have tried it, but I will make a point to give it a
shot sometime in the near future. I'm sure I can scrounge up enough
hardware to give a new BSD flavor a shot.

This suggestion is for those of us who love Linux and are a bit too
insecure to do a regular BSD install. I'd also like to have someone who
uses BSD give us an assessment.

Heh. BSD really is not any harder to install than Linux (imho). Most
of the problems seem to revolve around the Unix naming scheme for hard
disk formatting... new users seem to get lost easily in the forest of
'slices' and 'partitions'.

Thank you. My problems are two-fold. I have one primary machine and am on a fixed income (awfully fix). And I am in and out of the hospital so much. Linux and open-source keep me sane between those visits. But thank you for the encouragement. There's a lot of that is this User Group.

Most appreciatively,

William Roddy
