It sounds like I use a nearly identical setup to Tim. I ssh into my
headless server and use the default client as packaged by gentoo, I used
gentoo-stats for a while but I didn't need the extra info.

As for other clients Azerous is good, bittornado is supposed to be good
but I have not used it. You might want to avoid some of the experimental
clients as well as bittorrent++, torrent storm, and a few others as they
don't properly handle the faststream data or properly inform the tracker
when they have finished and are closing thier connection. I've seen this
cause problems with some trackers in the past.
