I will be out of the country for another week. I assume you guys will post any
important announcements?
PROGRAMMABLE KEYBOARD
Yeah, so I'm typing on a German keyboard right now. The most noticible
differences are that the "y" and the "z" keys are swapped and "@" is produced
by typing CTRL + ALT + Q. Also, all the special characters are in the wrong
places to make for the funny accent symbols. Inadvertantly, I've found myself
in a situation when this keyboard would be useful.
Personally, I think the most appropriate demographic for such a product would
be public keyosks or terminals (like say in a bank or museum or selling real
estate or something)
...I'm guessing by the arguments against progammability that some of you are
still stuck in the VI era of history ;-)
RLUG MEETING
Hey, where did everyone end up after the last RLUG meeting? I went to pub and
sub but no one was there.

All,
The first meeting of the RLUG Special Interest Group (SIG), known as the
Guerrilla SysAdmins (GSA), will occur this Saturday, January 21st, at
1000 at my home in the Double Diamond subdivision in southern Reno.
Once we finish up we'll do lunch somewhere.
This first meeting will be mostly for us to all hash out what the GSA
is/will be, to set some goals/milestones, to present ideas, etc. This
is the absolute "ground floor" for the GSA, so it's a wonderful time to
get involved. We need folks that have a highly technical skill set of
some kind, anything from data entry to creating your own protocols and
such.
However, folks of all skill levels are absolutely encouraged and welcome
to get involved. After all, one of the goals of the GSA will be to
educate each other, so even if some topics may be over your head at
least you will gain some additional exposure to new ideas.
Please let me know if you are coming, and once I know who the attendees
are I will disseminate my address.
