I've been contacted by a business in the area of South Reno who is
looking for
a Linux person to do initially about 30-40 hours worth of work,
on-site, cleaning up and re-doing
security on 4 boxes running a LAMP type set-up and linking to the web
via T-1.
Thereafter the the consultant would probably be averaging about 6 hours
per month
general maintenance etc. Any of this work than can be done remotely -
may be done remotely
or on-site.
Hours are VERY flexible for the right person including nights...
The owner of the business is a software developer and has many years
experience. Feels his
place is generating revenue as opposed to system maintenance -.
Here's the caveat:
This business has gone through several people who were doing this as a
kind of
side operation and disappeared when something else came along that took
their interest.
The person responding should:
A. Be in business to do this kind of consulting work
B. Be ready willing and able to commit to work with this company
for at least a year (after talking to the owner, of course)
C. Have the following knowledge/qualifications/skills
Linux Based: Web Servers, Firewalls and other Security
WINE
Windows XP - general knowledge in a heterogeneous network
environment
Hardware - general PC PLUS routers & switches
Current *nix installations are running Slackware - Owner is willing to
change distros if that
makes the whole operation more efficient.
