The problem with DSL in Sparks isn't the ISPs, it's the telcos. In my
area, I'm far enough from the CO (~14k') that I'll be lucky to get a
128K downstream connection on a typical DSL line--and forget about the
3-6Mbps service they're advertising.

Heck, if I could get even 256K upstream from someone else, I'd have
ditched Charter a long time ago. I took a look at Clearwire recently,
but found that:

    1. Their rates are about the same as Charter, for half the speed.
    2. Their TOS isn't any better than Charter's.

Both GBIS and Pyramid need to buy their local loops from the telcos, so
once again the small fry are at the mercy of the monopolies. *sigh*
