I'm lazy... and generally opt against a 1-hour drive each way unless
there's a seriously compelling reason. Maybe we should start with
something close and easy to get to via public tranport where necessary,
see how attendance goes, and then make the call whether to plan another
more ambitious event. Just my 0.02.
I will even offer to do the cooking on the grill.
Is rlug buying food and or drink?
Are we all bringing our own?

suggest
Rlug buy the grilling stuff (Hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks or
chicken -
whatever we decide) with the rest as a kind of pot luck:
Each of us brings a dish to share and whatever we individually want
to drink.
