I have tried to get lustre to compile on the client thinking that was the
issue however this doesnt work:

./configure ‹enable-lustre --with-lustre=/src/lustre-2.9.53_46_gf548d1a


And shows this on a Centos 7 system (the one running the server):

configure: Summary:
configure: Lustre     support is ON
configure: Backup     support is ON
configure: Lustre/HSM support is ON

However on the Centos 6 client build system:


configure: Summary:
configure: Lustre     support is OFF
configure: Backup     support is OFF
configure: Lustre/HSM support is OFF
