New issue 567 by dragonfyre13: Fully Package Robot Framework and associated libraries with each stable release
http://code.google.com/p/robotframework/issues/detail?id=567 No, it's not fun, but honestly one of the primary things holding robot framework back from me recommending it to the other companies that I interface with on a daily basis is lack of an easy way to install. This isn't just RF core, it includes RIDE and SSH library, and selenium library at the least. Hopefully, it would be Jython rather than Python, and include the DB, SSH, selenium, and swing libraries, as well as java tools. Essentially what I'm looking for is some sort of "go get this file, double click, and install" file. This should be simple enough that a business analyst, or basic manual tester can get it installed and play around at the least, so long as they have either python or jython installed already. As of now, this requires modifying the path manually (installation file can do that pretty easily), installing ride seperately, as well as the SSH library (incredibly difficult on windows in my experience). Shortcuts should be created automatically on the windows platform, including a GUI launcher to specify a location to execute for pybot. Lowering the barrier to entry would significantly increase the adoption rate of RF in the short and long term.
