Possible, try to open the model via 3d editor (blender,etc.) and move the model to the right position.

No, you have to set the correction via script or use the transformer stack.

My model is given by a .wrl file. I also tried with a .obj file, obtaining same result.

The RBS plugin has an (editable) path to a model file. If you have a model file that can be loaded by osg, set the path to it there, et voila !
