Well first get the source and work out what code you need to modify. So
find the code used for the open with screen.
Then you will need to use the talk functions to voice it and maybe add new
lang entries speak int variables and stuff like that.
You will need to know the c programming language though. If you don't its
almost not possible to do...

Hi list.
I'm guessing your all experienced developers on this list so I hope you don't
mind a newbie joining the party.
I'm a blind user of rockbox and so of course i depend on the voice
functionality.
In rockbox there are a few menus and dialogs that aren't voiced such as the
open with dialog for example.
seeing as this is the case i would like them voiced. I realise i could just
sit around and ask all i wanted but i'd prefer to have a go at doing the job
myself as i think it could be fun as well as putting something into the
community. Plus as i'm guessing only a minority of users use the voice and
have other things to do in life other than work on rockbox i'd have no idea
if or when things would be voiced.
i'm a real newbie to programming though I have worked with visual basic 6 a
few years back so i no a little bit about programming though i hope i might
not have to no much for voicing options.
I've looked at the lang files and think i now understand there construction
and how voices are generated from them.
But my question is a very basic one I want to voice the open with dialog for
example what exactly do i need to do to do this? i mean how do i go about
getting the speech to work in the dialog. As i have no idea where i need to
start and the wiki doesn't seem to have any useful info in it. So i thought
i'd ask the dev list.
thanks for your help.
alex.
