Go for it! All we ask is that you share your work with us, even if it's a work in progress. The best way is to open a new patch task on Flyspray and attach your latest version whenever you make a breakthrough. I don't have a Sansa myself, but there are quite a few hackers here who could help you out if you do get stuck.
