I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Sandisk regularly charges a licensing fee and requires a nondisclosure agreement to be signed for this sort of information. I mean, I imagine that the accessory manufacturers have to pay to use the protocol and interface with the Sansas.Wouldn't this be the kind of thing that Sandisk could actually tell something about, in the event that it was their own protocol at least? The hardware stuff would still be secret, but it'd save some time and boring work if they could give out details on the protocol
