10 seconds is hardly "few." I'd recommend trying to actually use Rockbox
with it set to 10, 15, and 30, and see how often you actually need to
scroll to bring the backlight on in menus while actually attempting to
use them (as in, picking an option you'd be looking for, and reading
until you find it, then moving, few people stop and read all the
options, and when they do it's something they only really do once anyway
so I don't think it's something we need to plan for).
I'd find 15 acceptable, but 30 seconds is a very, very long time for a
default.
