You forget those people who may not know how to change their tags (especially replay-gain settings). It is a nice thing that Rockbox allows to avoid problems even if there are other (more complicated) ways to avoid them. And how does it harm the other users?

Do you really believe that such a person will know if replaygain is enabled then? Nobody's really described a situation in which a user is negatively impacted. If it were enabled by default, this same "problem" holds true. Being disabled by default, on the other hand, people with tags may expect it in use without it happening. Basically, either way one group gets left out, but people who don't use replaygain are unlikely to have replaygain tags in the first place. And people who don't know about its existence in the first place aren't even going to be able to detect it's in use unless their files not only have replaygain tags, but they're an improperly tagged gapless album.

I must say too that the tone of your posts sound arrogant. I doubt that *any* argument would make you think over your opinion. Therefore it seems quite useless to discuss this topic any further.

I'm quite glad you can hear "tone" over the internet. Feel free to assume any tone you'd like here. If you want the one it's actually delivered in assume monotone without inflection. It's text. It's meant to be read as such.
