Dear people here, I used FreeBSD before Linux and I've "defected" to the penguin cause of the mouse support in console for Midnight Commander.
Now I would want to install FreeBSD 4.5 again om my box, but after booting the Install CD-ROM, it claims I have no harddisks!!!!! I have the latest motherboard from Gigabyte: 8IEXP [for P4 with DDR memory] which includes a Promise FastTrak chip. As I bougt an ATA133 Maxtor Harddisk and the Intel-chipset IDE's max capability is ATA100, I wanted to use the Promise capabilities. But as I use a hardisk Rack with slower disks, I wanted this one on the Intel IDE side [IDE1 and IDE2] but I wanted the Promise disk to be the first [for to boot Win98 from it, aside from W2K and FreeBSD]. So I defined the Promise as RAID and the disk on it as striped array with only one disk, and this has donne the magic. On the net I saw claims that FreeBSD supports Promise out-of-the box, but how could I install it on this configuration?!? Please, those of you who know it, help a poor newbie...
